3, 2, 1, Blastoff!

Count down to an adventure into a galaxy of mathematical concepts with Starfall Kindergarten Mathematics. Starfall students will explore the universe of mathematical thinking, using numbers, shapes, and measurement tools while connecting mathematics to everyday scenarios and practical problem solving. The curriculum is standards-aligned and includes early algebraic concepts.

Our Journey

Starfall’s innovative curriculum will take you and your students on a journey through various systems of early math. Here are just a few topics you’ll explore:

  • Numbers, focusing on 1 - 20
  • Creating and Interpreting Charts and Graphs
  • 2D and 3D Shapes
  • Weather, Time, and Temperature
  • Positional Words
  • Probability and Estimation
  • Measurement
  • Addition and Subtraction
  • Place Value
  • Solving Equations
  • Fractions
  • Money
  • Patterns
  •

Starfall Mathematics ensures long-term retention of these concepts by introducing them and then purposefully revisiting and reinforcing them throughout the year. We refer to this as a spiraling progression:

  • Children encounter concepts and skills repeatedly over months rather than in concentrated blocks.
  • Learners develop connections over time, creating and strengthening pathways for recalling information.
  • Progressive, strategically-spaced experiences result in deeper conceptual learning.

Daily Routines

Starfall mathematicians keep their knowledge sharp by exercising and strengthening their understanding of mathematical concepts on an ongoing basis during Daily Routines:

  • Calendar — practice ordering numbers, reading graphs, adding “one more,” recognizing equivalent sets, working with ordinal numbers, and so much more!
  • Weather — apply probability, prediction, and estimation while charting the daily weather, and graph results using tally marks. Compare your results to determine more than, less than, and equal to.
  • Number Line — use the number line to chart the number of days that have passed in the school year. Because the number line begins at -5 you understand from the start that numbers do not begin at zero but are infinite in both directions.
  • Place Value — gradually and intuitively grow to understand that the number system contains only 0-9 digits by regrouping ones, tens, and hundreds.
  • Hundreds Chart — reveal a new number on the chart until you reach the 100th day of school.
What Teachers are Saying About Starfall's Math Curriculum
Starfall Math creates learners who think about math in real world experiences. My class was excited to see what we would be doing every day. They are beyond ready for 1st grade!
(Gissela, Glenwood Springs, CO)
I love using Starfall Math because everything is at my fingertips and I don’t have to go from one teacher resource to another to teach my lessons. My students loved the math games and I appreciate how the Starfall website tied in with the lessons. My students are well prepared for going into 1st grade.
(Rebecca, Mathis, TX)
I have always loved Starfall.com. The website has grown and expanded over the years, taking on more and more of the curriculum challenges of kindergarten. I love the math curriculum! I found the materials to be so useful in small and whole group settings. The kids love Backpack Bear, the songs he shares and the games we play as we learn math in a child-friendly format.
