My Shadow
Transcript & Visual Description

My Shadow Visual
I have a little shadow that
goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him
is more than I can see.
A drawing of a little boy standing in a hallway. His shadow is shown behind him. The boy walks down the hall, and the shadow matches his walk.
He is very, very like me
from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me,
when I jump into my bed.
The boy stands by his bed with his arms spread wide. His shadow's arms are also spread on the wall behind him. The boy turns around and sees his shadow. It follows his movements when he jumps into bed.
The funniest thing about him
is the way he likes to grow --
Not at all like proper children,
which is always very slow;
The boy raises his arm slowly. His shadow does the same on the wall behind him.
For he sometimes shoots up taller
like an India-rubber ball,
And he sometimes goes so little
that there's none of him at all.
The light moves above the little boy. He looks down as his shadow shrinks to a small spot below his feet.
What is your shadow like? A series of shadow shapes appear against the wall. First the boy, then a giraffe, a rocket, and a bear.
